The other reviews also mentions that warehog is painfully slow. If you don't want to use one of your TWO spare lives, your only option is a level restart.Īlot of other reviews I read mentioned an uneven balance between Sonic and 'warehog.' That may be true, but the cool power-ups and fighting capabilities of warehog makes it only a small issue in my opinion. If you don't time it to the nanosecond, you will fall into an abyss or drown. Some of the more complicated jumps in the later levels can be especially frustating. Sonic's round shadow helps some of the time, but when you're jumping in a diagonal direction, it's hi t or miss.

Unlike Sonic Adventure and other 3D Sonic games, the camera angle is fixed with no way of moving it. The biggest problem I have with this game is the controls and camera angle. The tutorials for the 'unlocked' moves need to be manually accessed from the menu it won't automatically take you there when you earn them. It's best to keep the instruction booklet handy. The tutorials are adequate since there are alot of moves to memorize. The storyline and cut scenes are once again cheesy with uneven voice acting (sometimes good, sometime horribly forced). The visuals are highly polished and nice to look at. I like (or at least try to like) the Sonic series. Other familiar characters from the franchise, such as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, make appearances in a number of optional mini-games that offer a break from the high-speed action.Ī decent Sonic game that's cursed with occasional bad controls There are nine game worlds, all designed to resemble real places such as Greece, China, and New York City, and each of the worlds features branching pathways and multiple routes to the finish line. As always, players collect rings as they reach supersonic levels of speed, making use of the "Quick Step" and "Speed Drift" abilities to avoid obstacles and handle corners without losing momentum. Sonic Unleashed makes use of a new "Hedgehog Engine" designed to give the game an unparalleled sense of speed and provide smooth transitions between the 2D and 3D sections of each daytime level. The cataclysm also brings about an unexpected change in Sonic, and in order to find the lost chaos emeralds and reconnect the world's continents, players must master both his traditional daytime abilities, and the new nighttime abilities of his slower and stronger alter ego Sonic the Werehog. Eggman has caused a catastrophic event that shattered the world into many pieces, and gamers must guide the spiky-haired Sonic on a quest to reunite the planet. Sega's speed-loving mascot returns to foil another evil plot in Sonic Unleashed.Sonic Generations is absolutely lovely, and, as flamed as it is, Sonic 06 is fun as well as long as you can be patient through the minor glitches and loading times (Neither ever bothered me). It sounds like both are rather diffrent though and sound like they'd both be fun to try out if you ever had the time to c:Ī note on getting a 360 I say go for it <: So basically if your just looking to play through really fast the Wii version should be alright, but if your looking to do more exploration on the levels and want hub worlds for a longer experience, I would go ahead and get the Xbox. And I know you said you didn't care about graphics but the 360 version is really beautiful as well and the Hub worlds are a blast to look around c:Īnother thing is that I've heard that, for the Werehog, the controls are more difficult, and even though the levels are 'shorter', they're divided up into four acts (on the 360 there's just one for each continent.) Also the 360 version has extra Acts in the hub worlds (Ex. From what I've read there's more content exploration wise, AND, you actually get 3D hub worlds (The Wii version has a 2D menu.).

The levels on both versions are really different apparently too. The 360 version has more flexibility and tweaks there's more little secret areas around levels and exploration to be done.
